Tia Scruggs
Executive Director of Serene Haven Independent Living Community
As Executive Director of Serene Haven Independent Living Community, Tia oversees all aspects of the retirement community, including activities and events.
Tia joined Serene Haven in 2024, bringing over 20 years of experience in the healthcare and senior living industries. She began her professional career as a social worker, driven by her passion for helping others. This dedication led her to Atrium Health, where she served as the Director of Social Services for Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. After Atrium, Tia held key roles at Brookdale Senior Living and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Throughout her career, Tia has consistently demonstrated an impressive track record of increasing resident occupancy, enhancing team member retention, improving resident satisfaction, and boosting overall scores in crucial state surveys.
Tia has received numerous prestigious awards and recognitions throughout her career, including the Service Recovery Award from Atrium Health and the Chairman’s and President’s Club Awards at Brookdale Senior Living. She is also a graduate of the Rutherford County Leadership Program and currently serves on an advisory committee for the Rutherford County School Board.
Tia earned a bachelor’s degree in human services from Gardner-Webb University, where she also cheered on the Bulldogs as a cheerleader. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and daughter, and loves the outdoors, sports, and dance.
